7-Day Trekking North East Vietnam
Day 1: Hanoi – Ba Be Lake
Morning: 7:30: Pick-up at hotel. Start 7-Day Trekking North East Vietnam.
Afternoon: Travelling on our private boat, you will go through the entire length of the 3 connected lakes (Ba Be – means Three Bays). You will enjoy the beauty of the lake, with green water and various flora beside the river and your boat. Soon, you reach the enormous tunnel of Puong Cave which measures an impressive 300m long by 30m high. This is the result of millions of years of erosion from the flow of the river. Then go swimming – the most interesting activity in Ba Be Lake.
Evening: Have dinner and overnight at Tay traditional homestay.
Day 2: Full Day Trekking
Trekking around 14-15km from 8am-3pm ( around 7hrs including 1.5-2 hr lunchtime). You will go through the natural forest, the village of Dao and Tay people via a hidden trail.
After the long trek, you will enjoy kayaking and swimming to discover the beauty of Ba Be Lake.
Sleep in homestay of Tay people.
Day 3: Ba Be Lake – Cao Bang – Phja Thap
Morning: Cycling about 6km to explore an amazing cave in the mountain. We visit Hua Ma cave before coming back the homestay for lunch.
After lunch: Transfer by car from Ba Be – Cao Bang.
Reach Phia Thắp community-based tourism village – the famous incense making the village. The village is surrounded by limestone pinnacles which make for spectacular scenery. Every household in this village makes incense, so you can easily see and explore the process of making incense and talk with friendly and hospitable locals here.
Evening: Have dinner at local restaurant and overnight at 2-star hotel.
Day 4: Phja Thap – Quay Son River – Ban Gioc Waterfall – Nguom Ngao Cave – Cao Bang
7:30: Car transfer from Phia Thắp to Trùng Khánh district, canoeing for 2 hours on Quây Sơn river.
Take a boat trip and take photos here. Glide through the jade-blue waters of Quay Son river along a spectacular scenery of limestone mountains and green rice terraces. It will be an awe-inspiring and relaxing activity.
After canoeing, we will transfer to Ban Gioc waterfall and have small Picnic here. You can take beautiful pictures of 2 huge waterfalls in Vietnam, take the boat trip close the bottom of the waterfall and see the other side of the Chinese border.
Afternoon: Visit Nguom Ngao Cave, one of the most spectacular caves in North Vietnam with beautiful stalactites of various shapes.
Go to Cao Bang City at night.
Day 5: Cao Bang – Bao Lac – Meo Vac – Dong Van
A great day in the mountains north of Bao Lac is ahead of you.
You will spend around 2,5-3hrs trekking to the peak of Ma Pi Leng pass which gives stunning views of the mountains and sweeping valleys, with the poetic Nho Que river.
After 2,5-3hrs, you will reach the main road and drive to Dong Van. Sleep in a hotel in the Dong Van old quarter.
Day 6: Dong Van – Quan Ba
If it’s Sunday, you can have a chance to enjoy the unique and special local market. It only happens on Sunday and therefore is known as the “Sunday Market”. There are very colorful fabrics and various cultures of ethnic minorities. We believe it will be a special experience for you.
You will stop for lunch then take a short trek on karst mountains for breathtaking panoramic views. You will also have the chance to visit tribal villages in this incredible, untouched frontier region. You can explore and experience their life’s work, such as farming. We will try their local meals, drink corn wine, etc…
Afternoon: Stop and visit the infamous Vuong Palace, Vuong Family was considered the King of the Hmong People in Dong Van, Ha Giang. Their residence was built in the scenic valley of Sa Phin with Chinese architecture. You will explore the history of Hmong people in Dong Van in the French colonic period – the special frontier area.
Then transfer to Nam Dam village – the inhabited by Dao ethnic people (long dress Dao group). The local still keep their traditional customs, habits & culture from ancient times. You will have a chance to see the local traditional house made of compacted soil which protects people from the extreme weather in the high mountain. You are welcomed to visit the houses whose owners are very friendly and hospitable.
Enjoy dinner and sleep in a homestay.
Day 7: Quan Ba – Ha Giang – Hanoi
Summary:
+Visit Quan Ba Twin Mountain.
+Ride back to Hanoi.
+6 hours traveling
Stop to enjoy the overpass of Quan Ba twin mountains before continuing back to Ha Giang.
Once we reach Ha Giang, we ride directly to Hanoi. Arrive in Hanoi in the late afternoon. Finish 7-Day Trekking North East Vietnam
