Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post has included Regent Resort on popular tourist island Phu Quoc in southern Vietnam among the best new hotel openings of this year.
The resort, around 15 minutes from Phu Quoc International Airport in Kien Giang Province, is scheduled to open its door to tourists in April.
It features 302 suites and villas, six restaurants and bars, swimming pools overlooking Long Beach, one of the most beautiful on Phu Quoc, next to a UNESCO-recognized world biosphere reserve.
Other hotels and resorts slated for opening this year that are worth a visit are Ritz-Carlton Reserve in China’s Sichuan, The Homestead Resort in South Africa, Buahan in Indonesia, and Six Senses Crans-Montana in Switzerland, according to SCMP.
Phu Quoc, Vietnam’s largest island, has become internationally popular after the government allowed 30-day visa-free entry in 2014.
In 2019, before the onset of Covid, it received over five million visitors, including 541,600 foreigners.
